Short CV

I hold a Ph.D. in “Information Systems and Human-Computer Interaction” and an M.Sc. in “Information Systems” and “e-Commerce” from the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete. My current research interests include Web Accessibility, Adaptive and Intelligent interfaces, eLearning, Design for Children and Ambient Intelligence (AmI). Since 2006 I am a member of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory of Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH), Institute of Computer Science. Through many national and European research projects I have gained significant expertise in the design, development and evaluation of (i) applications for children (including students with disabilities), (ii) mobile applications, (iii) accessible web applications based on the principles of User-Centered Design and finally (iv) Ambient Intelligence (AmI) applications for smart environments (e.g. Smart Home, Smart Classroom, Smart Hotel Room, Smart Garden). I have participated in many international research conferences and has published more than 40 articles in international journals and books in the field of “Universal Access”, “Ambient Intelligence”, “eLearning” and “Adaptable Graphical User Interfaces”.
