Michael C. Ligerakis brief C.V.


Michael Ligerakis is an Electronics Engineer in the Computer Architecture and VLSI Systems Laboratory of the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH/ICS).
He holds a Master of Science in Informatics and Multimedia, from the Department of Informatics Engineering, Technological Educational Institute of Crete. (Msc Thesis: Design and impementation of an active electrodes based EEG device, suitable for use in steady state visual evoked potentials(SSVEP) studies and applications) and a Diploma in Electrical Engineering, from Electrical Engineering Department, Technological Educational Institute of Crete. (Diploma Thesis: Design and implementation of a Data Logger based on Intel's 80C32 microcontroller.
In the Digital Systems Lab, he has designed (electronic design and layout) assembly and bring-up numerous multilayer High Speed Printied Circuits Boards, for the needs of CARV Lab's projects. He is also responsible for the support equipment of the Lab (specs, purchase, installation, maintanance and backup of several servers, specialized CAD software, specialized electronic boards, consumables and specialized equipment such as logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, BGA rework station etc.

Work - Teaching Experience

  • October 1991 - December 1992 Undergraduate student, in the Hardware Lab at the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH implementing various microcontroller based cards and supporting the Systems Administration Group.
  • April - June 1992 exchange student in the Lab f. Prozessdatenverarbeitung at the Informatik Dept of Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin(former :Technishe Fachhocshcule Berlin), at Berlin, Germany.
  • September - 1994 until June 2012 Adjunct Laboratory Collaborator/Instructor at the Hardware Lab., Computer Science Group, General Sciences Dept, Technological Educational Institute of Crete
  • September - December 2016 external advisor in Kaleao Ltd.
  • June 1994- today, he works as an Electronic Systems Engineer, in the Digital Systems Lab, Computer Architecture and VLSI Systems Laboratory, Institute of Computer Science, FORTH, implementing and testing digital hardware, managing the Laboratorie's Servers Specialized CAD software and dealing with day o day lab's needs (Purchases and monitoring of equipment and consumables,installing and fixing equipment etc).
