About Me

I'm a Web Designer / Developer specializing in deliberation and e-Participation platforms, with a focus on clustering, representation and reasoning technologies for developing and managing semantic data on the Web. I am currently working as R&D Engineer at FORTH-ICS, and I actively participate in all stages of the design and development cycle of dynamic projects in which I am involved, for creating impressive collections of responsive, innovative, and interactive tools.

My interests lie mainly in the broad area of Computational Argumentation, Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, the Argument and Semantic Web. I had the opportunity to be involved in National & European projects, and simultaneously enrich my research and development experiences over creative and high quality projects. I had also been able to represent my work in International Conference on Ontolgies, DataBases, and Applications of Semantic (ODBASE - 2017), as well as attend and participate in various social events, such as the Researchers Night (2017 - 2018), the FORTH's Research Summit - 2017, the 9th Symposium and Summer School on Service Oriented Computing (SummerSoc - 2015), and the 3rd MUMIA training school - 2014.

Projects

The APOPSIS Project

The APOPSIS Project

APOPSIS is a web-based deliberation platform that aims to motivate online users to participate in well-structured dialogues by raising issues and posting ideas or comments, related to goal-oriented topics of discussion. The system is designed to enable more structured and less confusing argumentative discussions, thus helping sense-makers in understanding the dynamic flow of the dialogue. APOPSIS can be used in everyday deliberation, as well as decision-making discussions, where users exchange their viewpoints and argue over a plethora of topics. In order to interpret and analyze user reactions, such as comments, votes and ratings, the system uses methods from the fields of Computational Argumentation and Machine Learning (ML) that enable the structuring and evaluation of the differing opinions.

The Heraklion Smart City Project

The Heraklion-Smart City Project

The implementation of the internet Of Thinks (IoT) and open data infrastructure in a specific Greek smart city, the city of Heraklion, Crete. This project describes the use of the Internet Of Thinks (IoT) promoting the domains of Telecommunication and Networks, Information Systems, Signal Processing, and Human-Computer Interaction in building the core of Heraklion ICT Infrastructure. The project offers a web portal which is available to the municipality and the public through the Heraklion Smart City portal. The system was developed with the State-Of-Art technologies utilizing Object Internet Technologies as well as various Interactive Tools to manage resources, Infrastructures, and networks to better serve the citizens of the Heraklion city.

The CAP-A Project

The NGI-TRUST CAP-A Project

In an increasingly instrumented and inter-connected digital world, citizens generate vast amounts of data, much of it being valuable and a significant part of it being personal. However, controlling who can collect it, limiting what they can do with it, and determining how best to protect it, remain deeply undecided issues. CAP-A will deploy a socio-technical solution based on collective awareness and informed consent, where by data collection and use by digital products are driven by the expectations and needs of the consumers themselves, through a collaborative participatory process and the configuration of collective privacy norms.
