Specialized educational software development for coding “Surface Synoptic Observations (SYNOP)”. This software is approved from the Hellenic Ministry of Aviation and is distributed along every meteorological station in Greece. At the same time I fulfilled my services as a meteorologist in the Hellenic Ministry of Defence and certain combat wings.

Study and implementation of Medical Imaging and Image Management specific software (RIS-PACS) based upon the DICOM protocol. Development of a Teleradiology platform and specialized visualization COM-components. Currently installed in three Hospitals located in Crete (Heraklion (Venizeleion), Rethymnon) and in Patras, Greece.

A study concerning Photodynamic Therapy techniques (PDT), aiming at a permanent glaucoma correction, was carried out. The results indicated that this approach is promising.

In the same period, I collaborated with the Labraki Research Foundation for the development of interactive applications and video, which were presented at the European Conference Open Classroom II - Greek Netdays 1997, whose subject was distance learning. I also collaborated with the OTEnet & FORTHnet telecommunication networks in the execution of a Video-Conference featuring main speakers the professors of the University of Crete. Furthermore, I was a trainer in an educational seminar, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, on the subject of using multimedia applications in secondary education. The participants were selected schoolteachers of Crete. Several multimedia software applications were presented including Image, Video, and Sound editing software, as well as Multimedia Authoring tools.

Development and processing (optical and electrical characterization) of semi-conducting materials. Multi-structure GaAs wafers development using MBE (Molecular Beam Epitaxy). Supervision: Dr. Georgakilas, Dr. Hatzopoulos and Dr. Aperathitis.

Treasurer

FORTH Researchers Association is a non-profit legal entity seeking to further the interests of the researchers employed by FORTH. It expresses the views of its members, provides advisory input to the regulatory process, participates in the decision-making procedures of national law-preparing and technical committees, and cooperates with other organizations and associations in the context of bilateral or multilateral agreements. It is governed by an 5 member board that is elected every 2 years by global secret ballot.
