Current Employment
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Computer Vision and Robotics Laboratory (CVRL) of the Institure of Computer Science (ICS) at the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), collaborating with Professor A. A. Argyros.Education
- January 2015: Ph.D. from the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete. The topic of my PhD was Efficient Tracking of the 3D Articulated Motion of Human Hands. I defended on the 12th of January, 2015, receiving honors (Magna cum Laude). A copy of my PhD thesis is available here.
- April 2009: M.Sc. from the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete. Received with honors (Magna cum laude).
- October 2006: B.A. from the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete.
- July 2004: B.A. from the Mathematics Department of the University of Crete.

- I was a main contributor in the submission that won the first prize in the ChaLearn Demonstration Competition 2012, which was held in conjunction with ICPR 2012, in Tsukuba, Japan.

- I was a co-organizer in several of the HANDS series of workshops: the 3rd International Workshop on Observing and Understanding Hands in Action (HANDS 2017) (held in conjunction with the ICCV 2017 conference), the 4th International Workshop on Observing and Understanding Hands in Action (HANDS 2018) (held in conjunction with the ECCV 2018 conference), and the 4th International Workshop on Observing and Understanding Hands in Action (HANDS 2019) (held in conjunction with the ICCV 2019 conference).
- I gave an invited talk at the University of Exeter on the 11th of January 2019. The title was Hand Pose Estimation - Recent Advances and Current Trends.
- I gave an invited talk at the Institute for Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Tuebingen on the 27th of November 2014. The title was Efficient Tracking of the 3D Articulated Motion of Human Hands.
- I interned at Microsoft Research in Cambridge during the Spring of 2012. The internship resulted in a publication and a US patent.
